Welcome to Orokolo Holiday clubs

We bring city kids (and adults) closer to nature.

Apologies to all who have tried to fill up the forms and there were issues: here are the two forms for this May Half term holiday!

As some of you already know, our Ofsted registration application has now been accepted — a huge step forward for Orokolo CIC. We are currently completing the remaining checks and setting approvals before full registration can be confirmed. Once this process is complete, we are especially excited to register for Tax-Free Childcare, which will make our sessions more accessible for many families.
For May, we are once again delighted to be partnering with Heart in Art Workshops. Kes has prepared four wonderful nature-inspired arts and crafts sessions, including tie-dye, clay and plaster imprint making, and beautiful cyanotype printing using natural materials — now we are just hoping for a few strong sunny rays to help the cyanotypes develop perfectly ;-)
For the morning Nature Club sessions, we have planned nature observation activities, animal and plant identification, forest school-inspired activities, and adventures along the Kennington Park Nature Trail. As always, the focus will be on curiosity, creativity, free play, and helping children build a deeper connection with the natural world.
About Orokolo CIC
Orokolo Holiday Clubs was founded in 2020 in response to a growing concern: that many children in London are growing up with limited access to nature. As a parent living in a densely populated area, I saw how easily children’s lives can become disconnected from the natural world — and how deeply they benefit when that connection is restored.
Orokolo creates safe, nurturing outdoor spaces where children can explore, create and build meaningful relationships with nature. Through sessions in Kennington Park, the South London Scout Centre and Sydenham Hill Wood, children engage in hands-on activities such as nature exploration, gardening, wildlife observation and creative arts. We work with local partners including Bee Urban, Walworth Garden Farm and London Wildlife Trust to offer real-life environmental learning experiences rooted in the local community.
Our approach is inspired by Forest School and child-led learning, giving children time, space and trust to explore at their own pace. These experiences support emotional wellbeing, resilience, creativity and confidence, while fostering a sense of care and responsibility for the environment.
In the context of climate change and increasing urbanisation, this work is more important than ever. Many of the children we work with have limited opportunities to access green space independently. By providing regular, structured outdoor experiences, we aim to nurture a lifelong connection with nature.
We are committed to expanding our work to reach more children across London and to reinvesting in local environmental projects that support biodiversity, education and community engagement. With support, we can continue to create opportunities for children to grow, learn and thrive in connection with the natural world.

🌸 Spring is here! 🌸
As the days get longer, we’re excited to continue our journey at Lollard Street Adventure Playground — growing, exploring and connecting with nature together.
Since February 2024, we’ve been running gentle, nature-based sessions for under 5s every Monday during term time. These mornings are designed to help young children build a love for nature through play, curiosity and shared experiences.
So far (last two years), we’ve:
🍃 turned logs to find creepy crawlies
🏡 built fairy homes
🐦 fed birds and helped them build nests
🌱 planted beans and vegetables
🪱 counted worms and explored the soil
This spring we’ll be:
🌼 planting new seeds
🌿 caring for the garden
👀 birdwatching
🎨 creating with natural materials
…and following the children’s curiosity wherever it leads
🌞 Join us!
Please register in advance, then come along anytime between 9:30 and 11:30am.
